Intermediate Football

St Columbkilles 0-6 Galway 0-10

St. Columbkilles and Galway met in the second round of the Intermediate championship with Galway taking the points after a flurry of scores in the last 10 minutes of the game.  St. Columbkilles were leading by 2 points entering the final quarter but failed to hold on to the lead.

Fielding a team that has not played together can have it’s difficulties, and it did for the ‘Killes as much ball was given away and wasted.  Scoring opportunities came and went, and the first half was a close run affair.  Galway led by a point at the half, 0-4 to 0-3.  The Killes came out in the second half and set about making things right, pointing three times to none for Galway in the first 15 minutes.  Galway made three changes in their forward line at this point and had the St. Cols backs at sixes and sevens as they scored six points to no reply in the last 15 minutes.

An opportunity for points lost, and John Cunningham lost for a few weeks to injury due to bruised ribs.
